Dig Deeper Questions for Planning Purposes

Ask yourself (and/or your ministry lead) the following questions to help strategically plan your communications to get the most out of every email and social post. If you need assistance with developing a communication plan, please contact Mary or Lauren as soon as possible.

Timing is Everything

These aren’t questions to ask 24 hours before your email is scheduled to go out, your event is about to take place, or you're requesting a last-minute push from the communications team. Instead, they should be asked 3, 6, or even 12 months in advance, depending on the nature of the event.

Why?

  • Why are we doing this event? What’s the end-goal?
  • Which spiritual formation practice does this event or gathering relate to? or how does this communicate the Gospel?
  • Does this event fall in line with the vision of All Saints "As All Saints mission statement says, the three essential means by which we seek “to live and to love as the Body of Christ in Austin for the world” are worship, spiritual formation, and service."?

Who?

  • Who is the target demographic?
  • How many people would constitute a “successful” event?

What?

  • What is the event title?
  • What do we need for this event? (setup, registration links, advance tickets, etc.)
  • What is the value for your target audience? i.e. why would people attend this event?
  • Is childcare needed for this event?
  • Are food and beverages needed for this event?
  • Is AV required for this event?

When?

  • When is this happening? Is it a single event or is it recurring?
  • What time is the event happening? Start and End times.

Where?

  • Where will we have this event? On-site or off-site?
  • If onsite, is it in eSpace?
  • If offsite, what is needed to communicate and host this event with excellence?

How?

  • How would I describe this event to those that know nothing about this ministry, or are new to All Saints?
  • How much does this event cost?
  • How am I going to provide a follow-up or a next on-ramp into our ministry?
