Making Coffee in Commercial Kitchen

How to Make Coffee in the All Saints Kitchen

Where is everything?

  • Ground coffee (decaf and regular) is located on the shelf underneath the coffee maker. Doublecheck the bag to see if it is decaf or regular.
  • Coffee filters are located on the countertop next to the coffee maker or in the pantry.
  • Coffee airpots (large silver carafes) are located beneath the counter where the coffee maker is.

Steps:

  1. Remove the metal filter basket from the coffee maker.
  2. Line the metal filter basket with a white paper filter making sure it is pushed against the sides so that no grounds get between the paper filter and the filter basket.
  3. Measure the appropriate amount of grounds using the blue scoop next to the coffee maker. For a half batch (half an airpot) of coffee, measure out ½ a scoop of grounds. For a full batch (full airpot) of coffee, measure out a full scoop. The red lid is regular coffee and the green lid is decaf.
  4. Return the metal filter basket with grounds to the coffee machine.
  5. Place an airpot underneath the drip hole of the filter basket with the handle facing inwards (see picture). Do not attach spout or lid yet.
  6. Turn on the coffee maker if it is off.
  7. Select full or half batch of coffee.
  8. Press “Brew A”
  9. Once the machine has finished brewing (indicated on the electronic display panel), carefully remove the airpot and set it on the counter.
  10. Insert metal spout into the airpot so that the plastic L-shaped piece is sitting securely in the hole of the airpot.
  11. Attach lid with pump handle to the clip on the back of the airpot and close the lid so that it clicks shut.
  12. To dispense coffee, lift the silver pump handle on the top of the lid and allow the small silver tab to click into place; then push down on the handle.

Cleaning:

  1. Squeeze the two black buttons on either side of the lid to open the lid. Push down on the black lever on the back of the lid mechanism where it connects to the airpot. Remove the lid and set aside. This piece must be hand washed.
  2. Remove the spout from the airpot. This piece can be washed in the dishwasher.
  3. Carefully dump any remaining coffee into the sink.
  4. Wash airpot and lid with warm soapy water. Rinse and set upside down to dry.
