Revised Common Lectionary
All Saints sometimes follows the Revised Common Lectionary for scripture readings in certain seasons. If you hear that we are "following the lectionary" for a sermon series, that means the Revised Common Lectionary or RCL. The lectionary runs in a three-year cycle, years A, B, and C. The All Saints short-link for the lectionary is allsaintsaustin.org/rcl.
The RCL lists readings for special church days that All Saints does not observe. You'll notice in the image below that the Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth is listed. Be sure you are looking at the correct date for the Sunday readings.
- You'll also notice above that some days (see Day of Pentecost) have multiple options for some of the readings (Acts or Genesis; Romans or Acts). The default is the top option however the preaching pastor may choose to use the alternate reading.
- The Psalm listed is used for the Entrance (also called the Call to Worship). Psalms are responsive (Minister then People) but not always by whole verses. Refer to this document for a starting place for each Psalm and then the preaching pastor (or Tim) may adjust if desired.
